Benefits and Challenges of an Internship

Every student, every future specialist in any field goes through an important and worrying period in his studies which is called internship. Internship is the method when students apply their knowledge practically. It is an exchange of experience between a student and organization where he do his practical work. The internship is accompanied both with benefits and challenges. I would like to speak about challenges and benefits of the internship from the point of view of my own experience.
I spent last four weeks doing my internship as a teacher of French. And I can say that the greatest benefit of it, in my opinion, is that after the internship students loose their fear towards the future profession, as it happened to me.  Studying at the University one can doubt if he chose the suitable profession. Such thought as for example “what if I will not cope with it” probably came to everybody. But little by little, practicing day by day, trying to do all your best, you finally realize that there is nothing frightening and become more confident in what you are doing.
Moreover there are people who help you. So, there comes another benefit – you work with more experienced people who teach you the peculiarities of the profession. They share their experience with you, point out your mistakes, so that you don’t repeat them in the future, and encourage you. Their help and pieces of advice enrich your knowledge and contribute to your experience in the chosen field.
One more benefit is that you apply your knowledge in a real-life situation. There are things that you simply can’t be taught in the University.  You will work with real people and there might happen situations and problems the solution of which you will learn only working practically.
And finally, internship is your time to demonstrate all your abilities, all your potential, all your strength, and not only to others, but in the first instance to demonstrate all these to yourself.
However, how it was mentioned in the beginning, the internship has challenges as well. So far, I can name the one, which bothers me. The internship doesn’t assure that after graduating you will get a job. The organizations which receive students as their interns in most cases can’t offer them a job. It would be really good if you continue to work in the place you practiced. But the truth is that it is almost impossible and a lot of really well-prepared young specialists remain without a job.

In conclusion I can say that in spite of some bad sides of an internship every student should use his chance to do it, because only during this time he can apply all knowledge acquired for three or four years in the University and decide whether the chosen profession is his vocation or not.

                                                             My expectations.

Beginning a new course this semester brings me, like any other new things, a number of expectations. First of all, I expect to find out finally what the academic writing is. It means that I want to know how to define the academic writing and how does it look like, I mean its structure. I hope I will learn how many kinds of writing exist, and how to produce them. I expect as well to see enough examples of these kinds of writing in order to be able to write in the same way. I think that during the course we will have much training in writing, sometimes successful, sometimes not very. So, at the end of this course I expect to know everything about writing and to be able to produce correct, coherent writings.

Jane`s aunt sents her to school for girls -Lowood School. This school became home for Jane for many years. It is not a very pleasant place. The rules are very strict, the teachers are angry, the food is terrible and the girls there   are sad and scared. But Jane does not worry much about this, because she didn`t have a family and she doesn`t kow what is parents` love or warmth of your own home.
Fortunately she meets there a teacher who is not the same as the other teachers there- Ms. Temple- a very good and kindhearted woman. And she meets a girl Helen Burns. They become friends.
Jane spends in that school eight years, after that she decides to go to Thornfield to work as a governess. She lookes after a girl, Adele. Everything is good there, but sometimes at the night Jane hears strange sounds in the house.
One day Jane meets Adel`s father -Edward Rochester. It was love at the first side, but each of them tries to hide that feeling.
Jane is very jealous when Rochester has a relationship with a woman called Ms.Blanche. People even say that they are going to marry. But unexpectedly Rochester tells Jane that he loves her and asks her to marry him.

I think that it can`t be so simply.  I hope that Edward and Jane will be together, but they probably will have to struggle for their love.

Hello, my dear!!! I am sorry I haven`t written here for so long. But now I began to read a new book, and I will share my  impressions and thoughts with everybody.
The book I started to read, by the way, all of us started, is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. The main character of the novel is a girl who lost her parents at an early age. Jane is a kind, honest and smart girl. She lives at her aunt`s ( Mrs.Reed) house. At the very beginning of the book I understood that the life of this poor girl is not happy one. Everyone in this house hates her-Mrs.Reed, her spoiled children and even the servants. They all say that Jane is a bad, lying, mean , naughty girl, although it is not so. They reproach her that she lives with them and that she eats their food, and always punish her for nothing.

I think ,  that REALLY mean and lying  there, are Mrs.Reed`s children.
And the most disguisting for me is Mrs.Reed, who doesn`t have  even a little sympathy for this child and for her trouble, and who grew up such cruel children.
But I expect and I believe that the justice will come.

Final Realizations.

Hello dear friends! How are you? Are you through with the reading?

I am glad - I finished to read the "Great Expectations". And I can say that my expectations realized. The main character Pip changed his life a lot, but it cost him too much I think- his relations with people who loved him and worried about him, especially Joe. Pip was so blinded with his new life that he forgot about all that good that Joe did for him, his support while he felt bed, especially when Pip`s sister treated him badly. But at the end Pip understood how stupid he was and that he hurt Joe with such behaviour. And I was very glad to find out that Pip realized his mistake and initiated his relationship with Joe, and Biddy as well. I also was happy that Estella changed her mind and understood that all that taught her Ms.Havisham is nonsense and became a woman who can love and appreciate the other`s love towards her.  It`s good that Estella and Pip remained together.

There were many surrprises at the end of the book: Pip`s real benefactor was the convict he met many years ago ( in the very beginning of the story), and Estella was this convict`s daughter. I could not even imagine such a turning-point.
So all`s well that ends well!

P.S. My dear fellows and dear teacher, holidays are coming... I wish you a lot of success and a lot of strength, so that the next year would be even better than this one!
Happy Holidays!!!
With love,
Ann)

Hello, dear friends. How are you? I am sorry that I haven`t written for long time.
I continue reading "Great Expectations". Pip`s life changes little by little, and Pip changes as well. He is still in London. He gets a letter from Biddy. Joe  will be in London and wishes to see Pip. But Pip doesn`t want much to see Joe. He is ashamed of him. Joe feels that and he is not comfortable in Pip`s presence. Joe tells Pip that Ms.Havisham him to visit her home, because Estella came back from France. Pip meets Estella. She is not so rude with him like many years ago. Estella is glad that Pip changed and has another company now, not so common as Joe. Pip decides not to visit Joe at all. Pip believes that he is destined of Estella and wants to be with her.
Pip`s sister dies. After the funerals Pip stays at Joe, but the next day he leaves. Pip knows he won`t come back.
I am very dissapointed. I didn`t expect that Pip could be so unthankful, so dependent on peoples opinion. He is ashamed of Joe, the only one who supported him when he was a little boy and helped him. He doesn`t want to see him. He prefers more his new friends. He is blind with his new life.  I think he will be sorry some time about that...

Pip goes to London to Mr. Jaggers. The later tells Pip that he is to stay with Mr. Matthew Pocket’s son at the Barnard’s Inn. The son will take Pip to his father’s house so Pip can begin his education. . He tells also that Pip shouldn`t worry about his finances.  When Pip meets Mr. Pocket`s son he recognizes him from the first look. It is that red-headed boy from Ms` Havisham house whom he fought with. But in spite of that they become friends. Pip also gets acquainted with Pocket`s family and some of his friends. Some time later Mr.Jaggers takes Pip to the court with him. Pip notices that everyone is afraid of Jaggers. He is impressed.
I am glad that there are changes in Pip`s life, as I expected . But are they so good as it seems? We`ll see.
